The Network of Care for Veterans & Service Members is a breakthrough use of Internet technology that grew out of the Network of Care for Behavioral Health — a California pilot project that has spread throughout the nation. With the help of state and local leaders in the military and mental-health communities, we developed a site specifically for our returning soldiers. Maryland and California were the national models and, after three years of development, were launched in the summer of 2009.
The Network of Care serves as an information bridge between all programs, agencies and services, regardless of how they are funded. Thus, all organizations – from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to the U.S. Department of Defense to community mental-health and grassroots groups – are made easily available, along with features such as Social Networking, news, support groups, personal health records, and much more.
Because of the considerable investment by California and Maryland, the Network of Care can easily be customized and replicated to any location in the country.
